Journal of Tropical One Health

About the Journal

The Journal of Tropical One Health is a new scholarly initiative spearheaded by the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research & Education Centre (TIDREC) at the Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to address the urgent need for a high-quality, dedicated publication platform for One Health research in tropical regions.

The idea for JTOH emerged from the recognition that while several international journals discuss One Health broadly, there was still a gap for a publication centered on the unique realities of tropical countries. These regions face distinct issues such as zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, neglected tropical diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, deforestation, food insecurity, and increasing risks of pathogen spillover due to rapid urbanization and environmental disruption .

JTOH was founded to provide a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, clinicians, veterinarians, environmental scientists, policymakers, and public health practitioners to share evidence-based findings and practical solutions. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, short communications, case reports, and perspectives covering areas such as emerging infectious diseases, animal health, vaccines and diagnostics, environmental health threats, food safety and security, and public health governance
